Easy Entertaining With Style in 3 Easy Steps

Gathering friends around a table with delicious food and scrumptious wine is easy with a few tips.
“Anyone who’s a chef, who loves food, ultimately knows that all that matters is: ‘Is it good? Does it give pleasure?'”
Anthony Bourdain
1. Figure out what your focus is. This could be a theme, a highlighted dish, a specific cuisine, a wine or even a color. This is your party, have fun with it!
Found a lovely Carmenere wine you want to be the highlight of the evening? Do some research and figure out what it pairs best with. Look at the tasting notes to find things that compliment each dish. Have an amuse bouche of a crostini, gorgonzola, strip steak and drop of blackberry jam? Think about pairing with a kale salad and arugula with pomegranate seeds. The goal is that all the flavors should compliment each other and the meal should flow. Themes and pairings also make for great conversation starters and your guests will appreciate your attention to detail.
2. Do as much as you can ahead of time. Pick dishes that you can largely prep before hand, and that can cook while you mingle. You don’t want to spend the whole time stressing and assembling while your guests are havingĀ fun, not to mention it can stagnate conversation amongst your guests and ruin the fun.
3. The WOW is in the details. Take time to set a beautiful table. Spend time on Pinterest if you haven’t already and look at place settings that go well with your theme. Don’t be afraid to duplicate them and make them your own! It doesn’t take a lot of work to add a tablecloth, candles, flowers etc. But it shows that you’ve put in some extra care and will make your guests all the more impressed.
